I read of lands from far away , Or a desert island at sea ; I imagine being a princes’ s wife , Where my life would be rich and free . I travel the whole world over , To Paris, France or Rome ; I become a pirate - man , And sail to parts unknown . My next book I’m a private eye , Figure out who killed who , you’ll see ; There is forever lots of excitement in a book , Just pick a character, become who you want to be . Books can become a friend , If you read when you’re feeling blue ; They will keep you from being bored , When you have nothing else to do . So if you need a friend , To spill out the bad times to ; Grab up a book and read on , It can do wonders for you . A book will become your friend , When nobody else seems to care ; So find a book and get involved , A new adventure awaits you there .
