The book consists of 10 stories about animals. The first one is called: “the conceited hare”. It talks about a little hare which its mother warns everyday of the fox. The fox wakes up sick and the doctor gives it a prescription, what to eat during the week. Only on Friday it was allowed to eat a hare. On Saturday, the little hare runs into the fox and runs fast, but the fox doesn’t follow it. It thinks that the fox is stupid. It mocks at it and makes funny things and the fox still doesn’t try to eat it. Everyday the hare followed the fox everywhere mocking at it until it’s Friday. The hare brings its friends to show them how it made fun of the fox, but this time, the fox jumps and eats the hare. The second story is: “Nana, the lazy cat”. Nana is a very lazy cat and its friend asks it to build its own house. He brought the necessary tools and says he won’t bring her food if she didn’t build it. Nana exploits everyone passes to do something for her. One builds the house. Another makes the door and window. A third covers the roof with straws. Only a brick was left and Nana didn’t move it. A man doesn’t see the brick and falls. Nana laughs and laughs, then its friend comes carrying the milk for Nana. He doesn’t see the brick and falls on the house. The house is broke and the milk is split and Nana loses everything. The third story is: “The ant and the locust”. It talks about 2 friends, an ant and a locust. The ant falls in a hole. The locust can’t get it out so it asks for the help of a monkey. The monkey asks for something in return. The locust goes to another and another. Everyone asks for something in order to help it. Finally the locust satisfies all their demands and it pulls its friend out. The fourth story is: “The greedy mouse” and it’s about a greedy mouse that eats more than it needs. The king invites all the mice to its castle to eat free pies. It has one condition. After the mice eat, it asks how many pies every mouse ate. The answers were all: half or one pie. Only the greedy mouse said: 5 pies. The king says every mouse must make a robe as much as it ate. And they must finish before sunset. All the mice finished easily, only the greedy mouse was in trouble and starts to cry. The mice feel sorry for it and start to help it. It comes out running just as the sun was shining. The fifth story: “The little bird” and it’s about a little bird that comes out of the egg, and its mother talks to it about everything and bring its food everyday. Until one day the mother doesn’t come back. The little bird cries and says that its mother must be angry with it. A drop of rain hears it and says that it met a bird in the sky that said it has a little baby and that it talked to it about everything and brought it food, and that it was time that the baby depends on itself and learns to fly and bring its own food. The little bird knew its mother did this for its own sake. It stretches its wings and flies. The sixth story is: “The forgetful goose” and it’s about 4 friends, a hen, a rabbit, a duck and a forgetful goose. It asks the lake to remind it of everything it wanted to remember. The lake one day says: remember the birthday, but the goose forgot whose birthday. It goes to ask the hen and doesn’t find it. It thinks it’s the hen’s birthday so it goes to the market and buys a present. When it’s back, still no sign for the hen, so it repeats the same thing with the duck and the rabbit. When it finds no sign for any party, it goes home. When it opens the door, it finds all its friends there, with a big surprise party. It was the birthday of the forgetful goose. The seventh story is: “Coco and Fofo”, Coco is a crow that finds a big piece of cheese and refuses to share it with other crows. It flies away and lands on a tree where foxes play under it. The foxes trick Coco by telling it that it has a lovely voice and ask it to sing. When it does, Fofo the fox asks it to put the cheese down and sing well. When Coco leaves the cheese and sings, the cheese falls and the foxes take it. Coco knows it was a trick and asks for a small piece of cheese but doesn’t get any. The eighth story is: “The naughty tiger” and it’s about a little tiger that hates to bathe. It runs away from home and falls into flour. When its orange fur turns into white because of the flour, everyone thinks it’s a cat. It faces trouble and the dogs chase it. It runs back home and asks its mother to wash it well and never says no to a bath. The ninth story is: “The cunning fox” is about a fox that ate all of its neighbors but a smart rabbit. Its cousin visits it and they agree to eat the rabbit. The fox pretends to be sick and its cousin calls the rabbit to see it before it dies. They close the door and the rabbit knows it was tricked. It says that its uncle was a doctor and that it will bring it to heal the fox. When they hear of another rabbit, the foxes let it go. After knowing they were tricked, the hungry fox walks in the wood and finds a group of birds. It tricks them all and eats them one by one, only the dove was smarter than it and it tricked the fox and flew away. The last story is: “The lazy donkey” and it’s about a lazy donkey that wanted to escape work. It sits beside a hole in the ground pretending to guard it. Half the day passed and the cow sees it, it asks it to go to work and it sits beside the hole. Then the dog comes and sends the cow to the barn and sits beside the hole. The farmer comes and asks the dog what it was doing. It said it was guarding the hole and the farmer looks into the hole. A rabbit jumps out of it and scratches the farmer’s face. When the farmer wants to hit the dog it takes him to hit the cow, when the cow heard what happened it said it was the donkey’s fault. They all run to the lazy donkey and hit it.
