About the Book

“Dee and The Dog: Home at last” is about a young girl, Dee, who loses her parents in a tragic automobile accident. The story reveals episodes of her life as she tries to adjust as an orphan. Her new family permits her to have a dog, a beautiful red Doberman, which she names Ignatius. Dee and Ignatius go through a period of loneliness together but eventually find solace and contentment in realizing that happiness is right in their own back yard.


About the Author

Frances McNeil Spencer was born in Hamlet, (Richmond County) NC, hub of Seaboard Airline Railway. Educated in the public schools of Hamlet, Frances received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication, a Master of Science in Personnel Administration, and further studies in Early Childhood Education. For the last several years, she has been a Substitute Teacher for elementary schools. As the shy, quiet child in a large family, she often shared her thoughts and gave voice to her convictions with the pen. Writing afforded her the opportunity to express her creative and free spirit while challenging the imagination of children. Her work as a substitute teacher fueled her desire to write stories for children. As an avid volunteer, Frances is involved in several religious and community organizations. She enjoys reading to young children and volunteering in other area where the welfare and lives of children are important. Other hobbies include traveling, cooking, and writing for fun.
