About the Book

This story is about a little girl who is sent abroad to go to school. Away from her family and what she knows to be familiar, she finds a way to link the best of both worlds. One night, looking out her window, the little girl notices the brightest and shiniest star. This helps her create a great and beautiful solution to her sadness of being away from her family.

About the Author

Deborah Esperance Desir is an elementary school teacher and the author of My Bright and Shiny Star. Most of her childhood was spent in boarding school, and this children's book is one of her memories in fictional form. Desir lives in New York with her husband Nivenson and three children, Anayah, Etana, and Yeshayah. This is Desir ‘s first children's book.
