The Diva’s Guide is about the journey of girl who became so obsessed with wanting clear skin again that some would say it took over her life. In the author’s desire for acne-free skin, she has read pretty much every skin care and nutrition book published. She has tried nearly every remedy suggested and tested every product invented. She even invented homemade products, which she diligently tested on any willing friend. Join her on this journey—a culmination of tireless research and a true passion to live a happy and acne-free life.

About the Author

Dawn Amador holds a bachelor's degree in analytic philosophy from the University of California Berkeley. She also attended the graduate school at San Francisco's Academy of Art University (AAU) where she studied product development and manufacturing. During her studies at UC Berkeley and AAU, she struggled with acne issues, and her passion for skin care and nutrition grew. It was during this time when Amador started to consider how she could combine her passions for education, research, and product development to help others who struggled with similar skin issues. After starting graduate school, she decided to switch directions and obtain her aesthetician license and open an acne treatment center. In February 2009, Amador opened up Skin Logic with no clients, a borrowed massage table, a smartphone and a laptop. She only had five products in her back bar and was selling retail out of a desk drawer. Today Skin Logic has a customer base of over 1,000 and has never created a printed menu, let alone marketed through print advertising. Skin Logic grew using with minimal overhead and social media tools such as Google Analytics, Yelp, blogs, and BookFresh to drive clientele to its website and services 24/7. Amador also took a non-traditional approach to treating acne by looking at acne as a systemic issue as well as a topical one. She coaches her clients on health and wellness and treats acne with organic ingredients versus the traditional model of harsh chemicals. Taking this approach leads to long-term solutions, which help achieve internal balance as well as beautiful glowing skin.
