Reaching Out

After we overcame PND, I realised how hard Michelle had worked to overcome adversity and take control of her destiny. She had also been a fantastic Mother even through this horrible illness. It had affected us as a couple: it had made us stronger. I realised that whatever life had to throw at us, we would make a really good fight of it. I didn’t want to marry anyone else, and it was the PND not my Wife that was making me sad and upset. At times I didn’t think Michelle would get over the illness, and it does feel like that on some days. Michelle couldn’t be a better Mother to our boy, and we have moved forward. PND may now be my career change. It may now be part of my life, and I’m happy with that if I can help some people get through it and keep their families together. Rocco, a Life Coach, told me once that the greatest thing in life is to help another human being. So when I’m on my death bed, moaning and groaning, at least I’ll be able to lay back and say I did all this to help my fellow human being. Sorry if that was a bit strong, but that’s want I think, thanks to Rocco who planted a happy seed in my head. When Michelle is at work, and Ethan comes home from school he calls her name and waits for her to enter the house. Michelle is the one who educates him, and that is why he is doing great in school. Michelle explains things and reads books, and makes sure his schooling is up to date. I’m more of the outdoor type; I take him to football matches, play rugby and other things. Together we are a perfect match; we work as a team. The first year was difficult to say at least, but Michelle was still a active Mother to Ethan. She couldn’t be a better Mother, and she mustn’t blame herself for what she sees as missing out on the early years of Ethan’s life. I have the photos and that is all he will see: him smiling with his Mother. That is how she was, and is so much more now. How she overcame this illness, and continues to be a fantastic Mother has really inspired me. I know she is my Wife, and I would say these things just to gain brownie points to go out with the lads, but honestly she has been a truly fantastic role model to me, and has in fact helped in my own recovery.
