This is the story of Hazel the fly who landed atop my mom's apple pie, as it sat on the window ledge cooling one day, while all of us children had gone out to play. Now Hazel was cunning and Hazel was smart, she knew what she wanted right from the start. A piece of the pie she would give to her brother, save one for herself, and gove one to her mother. But the question was how, from a window so tall, could the pie be obtrained by a creature so small. Yes she needed a plan, and she needed it fast, for that apple pie would surely not last.

About the Book
Hazel is drawn to the tempting aroma of an apple pie that sits cooling on the window ledge. She wants nothing more than to surprise her family. The problem is, Hazel is much too small to carry the pie. As she struggles to find a solution, a flock of hungry birds show up. Just when she thinks all is lost, she gets a welcome surprise.
About the Author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dewey Beck recently retired from the legal field, and now spends her time writing for children and being a grandma. She is also un teh process of starting her own business. She resides in rural Idaho with her husband and thier canine companions, Gladys, Gracie and Greta. ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR: T. Rusell Harris is an accomplished cartoonist and illustrator. His work ahs appeared in numerous publications, including Reader's Digest, The Wall Street Journal, and The Saturday Evening Post. He resides in Georgia.
