About the Book

“Don’t Forget About Us” describes a situation families can encounter when entering into a blended family. This is a critical time during this transition and it is important to consistently tell children they are loved. Children are confused during this time and often times worried that this is happening because of them. This book will help parents or family members explain to the children that they will not be forgotten. It will also help parents communicate that they have not stopped loving him/her. The Parents Page in the back gives parents an opportunity to understand the morale of the story. This is a series of many books that cover many blended family situations.

About the Author

Growing up as a child of divorce, I rarely saw my father and experienced firsthand the confusion and pain that comes with navigating two separate worlds. When my mother remarried, I learned valuable lessons about what children truly need during these transitions, often by witnessing what they don’t need. Those early experiences shaped my understanding of how fragile a child’s sense of belonging can become when their family structure changes. Today, I am blessed to be married with three wonderful bonus children who have taught me more than I ever imagined about patience, trust, and the importance of healthy boundaries. My journey from being a confused child of divorce to becoming a stepparent has given me a unique perspective on both sides of the blended family experience. I’ve learned that the most important thing we can do for children during divorce and remarriage is to remind them, again and again, that none of this is their fault, and that they are deeply loved. My passion lies in advocating for children of divorce, who often find themselves caught in the middle of adult conflicts and decisions. These children go back and forth between homes, sometimes unsure of where they truly belong or if they’re the reason their family fell apart. I wrote Don’t Forget About Us because I wish someone had written it for me when I was young, and because I want to help parents navigate these challenging times with their children’s hearts and minds at the forefront. It is my hope that this book provides comfort to both children and parents, offering guidance and reassurance that with patience, understanding, and intentional love, blended families can become a source of strength and belonging for everyone involved.
