Samantha and the Soldier

About the Book

Samantha is a little girl who, out of love and compassion for the soldiers fighting for her country, does an unselfish act. Samantha takes the time to write a letter to an unknown soldier in hopes of offering him encouragement and support. The story expresses how one genuine act of kindness can truly impact someone’s life and help change his or her whole perspective on a situation that is out of his or her control. Larry is the soldier who is stationed overseas. He is feeling lonely and confused until he receives a random letter from a stranger. While reading Samantha’s letter, Larry becomes inspired and filled with gratitude for a ten-year-old girl who takes the time to thank him for his service in keeping her country safe. In dedicating this story to all the armed forces fighting for our country, it is my hope that this book will do the same. Because of my appreciation and gratitude for our troops, I have been inspired to write this story of love, hope and thanks.

About the Author

Darlene is a 47-year-old small town girl from Pennsylvania. She has been married to her wonderful husband, Jeff, for 25 years and loves to spend time with family, friends and beloved pets. Darlene enjoys writing inspirational poetry and short stories of hope and comfort. She wants to illustrate that a few words can go a long way in touching the hearts of many.
