About the Book
One day God comes to a baby in heaven and tells her that she must leave heaven. The baby thinks God doesn’t love her anymore and that’s why God is sending her away. She becomes very frightened and tells God she cannot leave him, because He is her source of comfort. God tells the baby girl not to be afraid, that He will travel with her to meet two loving people, a man and a woman. God places her into the birth canal of the woman which is filled with water. This is the point where the baby and God begin their fun filled journey to earth. The baby suspended in the water can hear two people talking to her, and calling her their baby. She asks God who are they? And God tells the baby they have been travelling with her for nine months and now it’s time for her to meet these two people and she will call them Mommy and Daddy. He tells her to push, push and follow the light. She does and she comes through the birth canal and meets her Mommy and Daddy. God returns to heaven, but before he goes, he tells the baby girl He will always be with her.
About the Author
About the author and Illustrator Blanche Zuelikia Niles Smith Blanche is an eighty years young diva, born in a brownstone building, At 522 Jefferson Avenue in the borough of Brooklyn New York. She is one of fourteen children born to Anton Fitzduncan Niles and Lillian Margaret Niles. Blanche was educated in Brooklyn and early on exhibited a talent for painting pictures of still life and portraits. Her work has been on display in Brooklyn, Queens, and North Babylon, where she makes her home. Entering her home, one can see that she has used many of the walls as her canvas as she painted in colored oils that made the walls come alive. Blanche traveled extensively with her husband to many different countries, including Brazil where she learned how to overcome the language barrier by quickly sketching the various things she wanted to see or buy in the shops. Her artist’s palette became her language as many of the local inhabitants would crowd around her as painted scenes of their towns or country. She returned to the United States with many pictures and sketches, and some of them are hanging in home even now. Over the years, Blanche gave some of her sculpture and paintings away to relatives and neighbors that asked for them. She believed that if she could make someone happy through her pictures then she too would be happy. This book “A Gift from God” was written by Blanche as a realization of a Dream Blanche has held for a long time. Blanche is finally doing something for herself.
