Never in a million years would I have thought that I would shake hands with two United States Presidents, Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama, and Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. My life and career in the United States Marine Corps has taken me around the world. I have had many good and bad experiences in life, but I learned from them all. I also have made some common mistakes to which most people can relate. In this book, I will tell of my mistakes and travels and how I learned from all of these experiences.
You will see the methods I used to accomplish a master’s degree and success in my career. Following my Life Learning Tips will give you the basic tools you need to have a successful career and to become a great mentor.

About the Author
Jermaine Jenkins is a veteran who served over 22 years in the Armed Forces. He is a member of the prestigious Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. I was reared in a small town called McLaurin, Mississippi. My family did not have a lot money but I appreciated what my parents provided for my siblings and I. I would often go visit my friends who lived in nice homes and often wondered why my family did not have one. During these times, I always imagined owning a nice home, car and having a beautiful family. In 1992, as high school junior, I found out that I would be having a child and my dreams were in jeopardy. People were saying that I would not amount to anything due to my situation. After hearing these hurtful words, I was determined not to be a high school dropout. I knew that I had to work harder than the next person and I was ready for this challenge. I do not remember one person talking to me about going to college, taxes, credit scores, investing, etc. so in my book, I give simple explanations on the importance of each of these topics. I give simple examples of how not having a college education or trade could affect your income over a lifetime. I give information on how to attend college for free and how to earn a high paying job after college. I explain the importance of seeking a career instead of a job. Success Starts Here is simple but life changing book for everyone. It reminds and teaches us that success first starts in our mind and that if we follow these simple but practical steps, we will be successful.
