About the Book
Millie is a black bear residing in the mountains of the Columbia Valley, close to the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. “The Fairmont Bears” tells of Millie’s daily adventures with her cubs Willy and Miles.
About the Author
Joan Olsen is a bear lover. These magnificent creatures are frequently seen in Fairmont Hot Springs, British Columbia, the setting of this story. As our three year old granddaughter viewed a black bear crossing the lawn from our rear deck, I wanted to remember the event and therefore wrote a story to read to her and our other grandchildren. The story is filled with lively pictures about a place children love to visit with its mountains, hot springs and wildlife. Joan presently lives in Calgary and works as a professional accountant but adventures most weekends and holidays in Fairmont, B.C. where we all enjoy the outdoors and family time.
