About the Book

A Respite in Time allows you to escape and find a quiet refuge as you immerse yourself in the author’s comments on life. These are relayed through short vignettes, which consist of small snippets of life captured in words. They include kernels of wisdom garnered from life experiences; descriptions and observations generated from travel adventures; and heart-warming interactions with loved ones and strangers. At times you will smile, and other times you will ponder. There is also woven into the content a universal, spiritual strand regarding life’s journey and the understanding that evolves. The book is organized so that it can be read non-sequentially, start in the front, the middle or back if you desire. The vignettes first appeared in my newsletter, the Poetical Journal, which is distributed to thousands of subscribers in seventy-two countries and all fifty states. As you read, we will be having a private conversation – a social interaction – my words and your thoughts and reactions. Where they take you will be your personal adventure.

A Respite in Time ultimately speaks to a mystical, quiet place where water for the soul is plentiful. As you read through these personal stories, you may be reminded of similar experiences. May you smile. In this high stress world where almost everything is time driven – rush . . . rush – may you also discover moments of respite and calmness.

About the Author

Bob Casey is a poet, freelance writer, professional photographer, educator, speaker, tai chi instructor, and publisher. More importantly, he is a seeker. He sees life as an adventurous journey with innumerable lessons to be learned along the way. From everyday experiences to the special life-changing ones, all impact who we are and whom we will become. His poetry and writing often focus on these life events.

He spent much of his professional life in Ohio as an educator, consultant, educational reformer, and now a professional writer, photographer, and tai chi instructor. He has sailed, cycled, hiked, and traveled extensively throughout the world. A favorite memory is the year spent in New Zealand on a teaching Fulbright. Later, his first book, The Wanderer: A Poetical Journey (2002) focused on his around the world trip and the insights gained. His second and third books, Wisdom from the Journey (2004) and An Oasis in a Cluttered World (2006) were a compilation of poems, vignettes, and recommendations from the Poetical Journal, an Internet newsletter that is published monthly for thousands of subscribers residing in all fifty states and seventy-two countries. Bob also has poems, photography, and articles published in anthologies and magazines. Two of his photographs taken in the Cascade Gardens in Banff recently appeared in Better Homes and Gardens.

“Poet Bob,” as his car license plate declares, is a past-president of the Ohio Poetry Association and a founding members of the Apple Valley Poets, a small group of outstanding poets residing in north central Ohio.

Bob currently resides in Fredericktown, Ohio. For more information about Bob, visit one of his websites, www.poeticaljourneys.com, www.journeyspublishing.com, or www.journey4healthnow.com.
