About the Book

Prison Stories is exactly what the title describes. However, not all the stories are within the walls of correctional facilities, some of the stories are accounts of what has taken place outside of the walls, in communities throughout Atlantic Canada. It is indeed a storybook that 'grabs your heart' with emotions of both sadness and surprise. Not only is it a storybook, it is also a textbook as it highlights many valuable lessons learned along the way in correctional chaplaincy ministry.

About the Author

Dr. Lorne Freake (pronounced Free-ak) has served as a Prison Chaplain in a correctional facility which operates within the demographics of English, French and First Nation Peoples in New Brunswick, Canada. He has also served as a Community Chaplain in the 'continuum of pastoral care' and moral support for both men and women upon reintegration. As a community builder he has helped in the mobilization of local churches to become involved in prison ministry. He has a Masters degree in theology (M.Th.) from the University of Quebec and a Ph.D. from Laval University which included a 408 page dissertation on the subject of Community Corrections. He presently serves as the Director of Ministry Advancement (DMA) for the Canadian Bible Society in Atlantic Canada. Dr. Freake and his wife Peggy (a high school guidance counselor) are the proud parents of four ‘young adult’ children.
