About the Book
Sonja Michelle Archie was a mother and a devoted Christian as well as an advocate, ambassador, and spokesperson for the Golden State Donor Services. She lived with renal disease for thirty years and volunteered with the National Kidney Foundation. At the age of ten, she was diagnosed with renal failure. She received two successful kidney transplants, one from a brother. After each transplant, she continued to accomplish and succeed in life. In this book, she talks about marriage, employment, having a child, having to abort a child, her emotional and physical encounters during her sickness, and her spirituality. Sonja tells how she overcame a series of obstacles. She did not let life’s ailments stop her from achieving her desires and goals. Although she lost her battle in 2009, her legacy lives on—she has touched the lives of many family members, friends, and associates. They saw her fight through sickness with a smile, and her words were about “the goodness of God.” This book provides great inspiration that “you can live,” despite life’s obstacles.
About the Author
Sonja Michelle Archie, discussed her dream of writing a book about her life with me. She wanted to tell others how she faced the dilemma of kidney failure, cancer, and heart disease, and how she lived to overcome each obstacle. She wanted those who face health issues, as she encountered, to know that “You Can Live,” regardless of the diagnosis. She believed that following doctors’ orders and faith in God will help you live.
I have been a part of her life throughout each obstacle that she encountered, and watched her gravitate to the positives and live beyond the expectations of her physicians.
I live in Sacramento, California, and have completed degrees in human services, and psychology. I am an editorial writer and a government worker.
