From the first day we arrived to settle in Malta, I have loved this island. I love its’ welcoming people who graciously invite you into their lives and share their culture and customs with you. I love the warm, ever-changing sea that surrounds me. On any given day, the colours range from a deep, velvety blue to a rich, royal violet, calm and soothing one day and bold and thunderous the next. I love the exquisitely built centuries’ old buildings inhabiting each unique village, with the traditional “Maltese Balconies” and the many Roman, Italian and Arabic styles. I love that the people are a melting pot of nations and cultures. I am sure there is at least one person from every nation who has chosen to live here and the tranquil manner in which diversity is celebrated is a testament to human acceptance and tolerance. I love the multi-faceted influences on the food, the culture and the language. I love this island and its’ people. My Magical Malta. It has become a passion for me.

About the Author
I am a South African living in Malta. I have holidayed in Malta twice over the last six years and loved it and when I was provided with an opportunity to live here, I jumped at the chance! I have come to love and admire this island and its many characteristics. I have many passions: reading just about anything, chocolate made in Switzerland, Zumba, psychological thriller movies, scrapbooking…the list goes on. However, one particularly compelling passion I indulge in is photography. I am what my good professional commercial photographer friend calls a “purist”. I take a photograph and that’s what you get: no enhancing or editing done. I like this pure, natural look. And it is these two passions that brought this book together. I want to share my experiences and photographs so that you may come to love and admire this island in the same way I do.
