Each green leaf looked like an opened hand waiting for Jess to take its gift. She could hear her thoughts whispering “thank you” as she knelt to pick the fragrant blooms. She took each flower tenderly and placed it in the basket with care. After a while she knew she had taken enough. She stood up and respectfully thanked the bush. With Boodee one step ahead of her, she started down the mountainside in a direction that was somehow familiar.
Her feet hardly touched the ground. She felt like she was flying. The mountain path curved down into a valley. The valley was cool and damp. The grass was still covered with the mist that is born when the chilled night air weds the warm fertile earth. As she walked through the dew, Jess could see the pointed houses of the people who lived here. When she was close enough she saw that they too were made from the skins of deer and buffalo. Now the people were coming out of their homes and watching her as she passed them. She was being drawn to a lodge at the end of the village.

About the Book
As September approaches, eleven year old Jessica Clare Songbird is anxious about transferring to a new school. She is worried about new teachers, different subjects and boys and girls she has never met. One night Jess has a bad dream about school. She wakes and calls out for her cat, Boodee, to come into the bed with her. She falls back to sleep and finds herself in the school building again. This time Boodee is with her. He guides her into four classrooms each one offering wondrous lessons. When she wakes she will never see school or the world in quite the same way. About the Author
From his high school days at a preparatory seminary in the 60’s through his years at St. John’s University studying literature, Kevin has been a keen observer of life. He has studied psychology and spirituality for the past twenty years but no lessons have been as profound as the experience of being involved with the lives of the children in his family. Kevin lives, works as a massage therapist and facilitates a spirituality study group in New York City. He is happily married to, "the light on my path", Jean F. Schwartz.
