On Babies
Even with a colicky, fussy or naughty baby, appreciate every moment. Babies change so fast that if you don’t take in every moment, you’ll wonder where the time went (you’ll wonder it anyway). A young child’s personality is made up of so many different facets, he or she needs them all to develop into a well rounded individual.
On Teenagers
Teenagers have a rough road to follow. Their hormones are changing, their brains are not fully developed, they are forced into being independent in school, they must start making decisions about the future. At the same time they’re looked upon to stop playing the childhood games they have always engaged in. Involve them in any decision making, ask their opinions, willingly allow them time alone or with friends. Remember, as a parent, you are learning also.
On the Ocean
The ocean is all powerful, letting nothing stand in its way. It puts our lives in perspective, makes us humble, shows us that natures does and should have its way. Try to find a way to fall asleep at night listening to the waves. It will make you appreciate its power and put you at peace.
On Observation
Take time to look at the world through the eyes of a child. Notice the caterpillar, watch how the leaf blows, see the shape in the cloud. You will slow yourself down, marvel along with the child and find enjoyment in, and appreciation for, the little things.

About the Book
“Thoughts for My Daughters” encompasses truths and beliefs accumulated over a lifetime of positive interactions and views of the world in which we live. Though written with young motherhood in mind, these thoughts lend themselves to a general positive outlook in anyone.
About the Author
Eloise Lovelace is a retired special education teacher who lives with her husband and two retrievers in the coastal mountain community of Boulder Creek, California. She has two daughters and three young grandchildren. She grew up spending summers camping, hiking and backpacking, and has found the redwoods to be the perfect environment for becoming a writer. This is her third book, in which she leaves for her daughters and other young mothers her beliefs or opinions that she has formulated from a lifetime of positive social interaction and rewarding experiences and learning. Her first two books are informative children's picture books: "Your Ema Loves You", written after her diagnosis of ALS, in which she presents the idea that, though a grandma may be in declining health, she is still the same person deep inside; and "I Was a Boy Just Like You", in which she demonstrates how alike grandparents and grandchildren really are. She currently spends her time reading, writing, traveling, providing therapy with her “Furry Friend” Golden Retriever, and reflecting on the rewarding life she has led.
