ISLAM And The VEDAS

There was a quarrel between the Jews and the Christians as to whether Abraham was a Jew or Christian. The Jews claimed that he was Jew and the Christians claimed that he was a Christian. However, for God, Abraham's faith was more important than his belonging to a certain community. One may pretend to belong to a particular type of faith with reference to a particular religious sect, or a great religious leader, but it is one's faith and how sincerely one follows the instructions of the Lord that determines how much one is firmly convinced about the existence of God. Most people are more interested in their nationality, community, society or particular political party, than in their spiritual relationship with God. From identification with one's community; sectarianism, favoritism, hate, pride, and quarrels arise. Consequently, one should be more concerned with the purpose of God's teachings, rather than to be anxious to advertise his religious affiliation. “Do you say that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes were Jews or Christians [Koran 2:140]? Abraham was neither Jew nor Christian. He was true in faith. He bowed his will to the Lord [Koran 3:67]”. How was Abraham true in faith? His deeds were pleasing to God. The Lord does not consider one's caste, social position, color, community, nationality or religious affiliation. It is the purity of our motives in our thoughts and actions when dealing with others that satisfy Him. Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac and Jacob and their offspring had passed away. They achieved the ultimate success by pleasing the Lord with their actions. One who really loves them should follow in their footsteps. “Those of mankind who have the best claim to Abraham are those who follow him [Koran 3:68]”.
