About the Book
Adventures in Thackerville will carry you, your children, and your grandchildren to the wonders of God’s little miracles and the joyfulness of childhood in a refreshing new way. Experiences include a beloved quote:that it is never right to do wrong and never wrong to do right. Written from individual experiences of his or of his children or a friend of the family, each account could be read as a bedtime story or they could be read by the children themselves. The Author has inserted his children and grandchildren’s names to personalize each story. Other names mentioned are his grandma, siblings, two cousins, an uncle and some family pets. It is the desire and prayer of the Author that these stories will be significantly used of God to stir the hearts of children and adults alike.
About the Author
Steven Randall Thacker was born in Southern Ohio in the early 1950’s. Steve was raised by his maternal grandmother and mother who were a considerable influence in keeping him in church during his early years. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Debby Jo Steiner. God blessed them with two sons, Corey and Shawn. Steve served in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam era and retired medically with Multiple Sclerosis. He was ordained and a preacher in Baptist churches for 13 years. Since retiring Steve has served as interim pastor, filled the pulpit for pastor friends and held revivals. Later in life they were blessed again and adopted a grandnephew, their third son, Cody. They have seven grandchildren whose names appear in this book and who are pictured on its cover along with their ‘cuncle’ Cody. Hearing of his children reading bedtime stories to their children, he was encouraged by his wife to write ‘Adventures in Thackerville’. He has also written poems and songs since he was a teenager and is in the process of having his poetry published, ‘Seasons of Time’. He has a desire to publish his favorite sermons in outline form and a book of quotes. Steve has a enjoyment for life that is obvious in the stories in this book.
