1. Many a/ Many an = Many. The articles `a' or `an' makes the noun singular. Eg: 1. Many a time, she wished to have a child of her own. (not `many a times,…) 2. Many an agreement was signed between the two countries. (not `many an agreements were…') 3. Full many a flower is born to blush unseen. (not `many a flowers are born…') 4. Many an elephant has destroyed the crops. (not `many an elephants have…) 2. Nouns such as `sheep', `deer', `swine', `cod', `trout', `species', `series', `works' and `headquarters' etc. are both singular and plural, unchanged in form.
