Before I knew it, the wind was blowing through my hair. I could feel the adrenalin rush as the wind nearly snatched my breath away from the speed of the motorcycle. Uncle Jordan started yelling and having fun with the motorcycle by speeding faster than the speed limit allowed. I remember the young women whistling and flirting with Uncle Jordan as he passed by them on the interstate. Uncle Jordan returned the compliment by blowing kisses and winking at them. I also remember Uncle Jordan cutting in front of big tractor trailers and flipping them off with his middle finger. Seven months later, I woke up in the hospital with a trach in my throat; oxygen in my nose and tubes was everywhere. Aunt Karen was right by my side, praying and thanking god for bringing me back to her. I looked at Aunt Karen and I noticed she was in a wheel chair. I couldn't talk like I wanted to, because of the trach in my throat. Nothing was making sense to me. I kept thinking that maybe I had some kind of memory loss, but I could have sworn that I was on the motorcycle with Uncle Jordan, not Aunt Karen, so why was she in the wheel chair?

About the Author
Nicole Kennard was born in Memphis, Tennessee to the proud parents of Earl and Emma Shumate. She was raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. She developed a passion for writing at the age of nine years old. She became more and more intrigued by various authors, which inspired her to write. This is her first novel. She currently resides in Little Rock, Arkansas with her three children.
