Buddy's Christmas Joy

About the Book

Buddy's Christmas Joy is a story based on the real life work of Buddy, a certified therapy dog. It illustrates the idea that Christmas is not just about receiving a gift or a toy but instead about helping others and spreading joy! Buddy learns this lesson with help from his mom by visiting a school, a nursing home and a hospital's rehabilitation center at Christmas time in order to spread his special "Buddy Christmas Joy!"

About the Author

Kathy McGougan is a career teacher with 25 years of experience with the Moore County Schools in Pinehurst, NC. She is a graduate of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and undergraduate degrees in Early Childhood Education and Reading. She presently teaches Reading Recovery in Pinehurst, NC. In addition to teaching, Kathy has also written and self-published a series of leveled readers about her Jack Russell Terrier named Buddy, called “Buddy Books.” These can be found at www.buddybookspublishing.com. Sally Hale is an elementary school Visual Arts teacher with the Moore County Schools in Pinehurst, NC. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Arizona State University and has also earned her teaching certification. This is her second book to illustrate. Sally is also the illustrator of, Fixin’ Buddy’s Little Red Wagon.
