Just at that moment, there was a rustle in the bushes. A rabbit popped up and sat on the edge of the lawn. The queen looked at Laz, and he returned the look. They both had the same thought in their heads as they both started creeping towards the rabbit. When they were both close, they lunged for it, missed it, and caused it to sprint off. Before the bodyguards had realised what the queen had done, she had landed on the floor with a thud, and then quick as lightning jumped up and ran off after the rabbit. What a scene! The queen was running around the garden in search of a rabbit, shouting “CATCH IT. CATCH THAT RABBIT!” The bodyguards stood by, dumb stuck. After a minute, the rabbit bolted down a hole. “I don’t think one can quite fit down that hole.” “No ma’am, one’s head is too large,” replied the bodyguard. “One will just have to try the machine with Emma. She isn’t getting any better so it’s this or nothing and one is willing to try anything. Laz, would you put her in please?” Laz did as he was bid and carried Emma to the machine. He put her in, closed the door, and instructed the queen to look through the window. They all looked on with baited breath; you could feel the tension in the garden. Laz pushed the button and stepped back. There was a flash, a few bangs, some whirring, and then . . . some barking. The queen threw herself at the door and wrenched it open. Out trotted a perfect corgi, who looked like Emma, but younger. Her coat was shinier, her eyes were brighter, and her leg was healed. “Emma” ran around the garden exploring as the queen looked on in shock.

About the Book
Meet Laz Ian Ventor, a Lazy Inventor. He’s house sitting for his friend when disaster strikes! In an attempt to solve his problem he creates a machine that makes everything perfect. Laz’s machine helps out a number of people, including the queen, things are happening that are beyond Laz’s wildest dreams and everything is perfect! That is, until there’s a problem with the machine. It’s obvious that something drastic must happen to put the world to rights once more. Will this Lazy Inventor’s only ever working machine have to be destroyed? Should he have never made it in the first place? And what will his friend say when she gets back to all that mess?
About the Author
Dear world, My name is Minnie Swinburne and I live in sunny England with my mum and step-dad. I finished 6th form in 2010 at Abbotsholme School Rocester having done English Literature, Business studies and Psychology. After that I took a year out as a break and went to work in Moldova with orphans for 2 months. Moldova is amazing, and Chisinau is one of the most chilled out places I have ever been. It's truly magical. After that I went to Milan to work as an Au Pair which was equally fun. I came back to England for the summer as I realized it was the last time I could spend any period over 2 months with my family. I got the idea for my main character when walking along an alley way to a friend’s house and then wrote the book from there. It took me 2 months on and off and I fell in love with it. Once the summer is over I am going to Reading University to study English with Primary Education. I have two cats which I think are really mini panthers, one of them answers to "Fatty" and he likes cranberry and raspberry Muller lights. As a family we also have horses, sheep, dogs and chickens. My sheep's name is Pepper and he is the sweetest of the lot.
