Trouble was something Sheriff Raf Lambert didn’t need. At sixty-three years of age, he was too sick and busted up to wrestle drunks, calm down rowdy cowboys or keep the solid citizens safe. He had just told the town committee last month, he wanted to retire and he meant it. They had agreed to find a replacement, but so far, none had stepped forward. The delay was irritating. Now here was the worst kind of bounty hunter in the west riding down his street. More trouble. George Dark was legendary and like his moniker, The Reaper, was not good for business, unless you were an undertaker. People wanted law and order, and they wanted outlaws hunted down but they didn’t want it done in their backyards for their children to witness. Dark had a reputation as an unscrupulous individual with extremely harsh ways. Criminals frankly were scared to death of him for if The Reaper found them, he’d more than likely kill them on sight. He had no conscience, no remorse and certainly no pity. The bounty hunter considered a man draped over a saddle less trouble than a live one. Now George Dark was here in Heritage.

About the Book
Heritage, Wyoming is not an ordinary western town. Along its dusty streets, hidden in its wood-framed buildings and camouflaged amongst its hard working people lurks a monster. Enter bounty hunter George Dark, an aging loner who has a murderous reputation and few illusions. He drifts into Heritage, a trail worn gunman on a stringy, half dead horse. He's the worst of his kind-tough and deadly. He's been paid a fortune by a dead Mexican to find the killer of the man's family, and when Dark is paid, he always completes the job. What George Dark doesn't realize, however, is that his sense of right and wrong and even his grip on reality will soon be tested. These will be hard lessons for the man they call, The Reaper.

James Ankrom is a full time editor for the magazine Railroad Model Craftsman. Originally from Parkersburg, West Virginia and a graduate of West Virginia University, he and his wife Linda have four children and reside in northern New Jersey.
