God comes in a variety of sizes, shapes, and with a variety of powers and abilities. The ancient worshippers of idols adored and worshipped gods that could not talk, walk, or defend themselves. Yet the people avidly worshipped them.
The Japanese once worshipped their emperor as god even though one emperor died and another took his place. More modernly many people have deduced God to less than their possessions or turned Him into a “flunky,” an errand boy or handy man.
The God of the Bible will not have any of this. It is the product of an evil spirit that opposed the revelation of God and chose to impose thoughts above Him. The result has been gross darkness while claiming to be wise.
The God of the Bible is creator of the worlds, universes, heavens, and everything that is. He is the source of all energy, the source of all life, and the source of light.
The God of the Bible defines truth. No one else dares to state anything contrary to what He says is true. In much as he was before all things and people, there is no one that He has to answer to. If we humans, whom He made disagree, dislike what He says, or want to change anything that came from Him, we do not have a right to do so because He made us, and the thing that was made cannot withstand the creator.
The God of the Bible is a loving, patient, kindhearted, understanding God who has more at stake in mankind than mankind has in himself. God’s integrity, creativity, and wisdom are on the line with Himself in the creature, which He has created in His likeness.
The God of the Bible lived in eternity past when there was no people, world, nor elements of the material universe. He could have remained in that state had He so desired. He chose to make a creature like Himself and wait for that creature to use the intellect that was given and return the affection that was bestowed upon it. But if it did not, He would not force it to. He wanted man to voluntarily return his devotion back to Him as He had voluntarily created it.
The God of the Bible is not vindictive, hateful, or tyrannical. He has the ability to know what is going to happen and to prepare Him and those that are with Him for the eventuality. He does not go about punishing those who misbehave now. Those that committed to Him will receive corrections, chastisements, and testing all in the interest of improving their behavior as His children.
The God of the Bible is not principally interested in the material world, but He is concerned about the needs of the people whom He has subjected to the conditions of the material world. Therefore He has intervened in the natural world in favor of His people. He turns back diseases, releases the grips of evil spirits, protects some from unseen dangers, and supplies all who trust Him with an inner strength called grace to endure what He determines we should endure. All the while He is accepting the inner person as His chosen child. WHAT A WONDERFUL GOD WE HAVE! NO OTHER RELIGION HAS ANYTHING LIKE HIM!
