The boys had cycled double fast. The adrenalin from the excitement of the day had fuelled them and they were just a minute from getting home when it happened. Daniel saw it first even though he was behind Charlie. The car seemed to be going really fast and was coming towards them on their side of the road. Daniel knew they were on the right side of the road. Both he and Charlie had taken their cycle proficiency tests. They even wore the naff cycle helmets which although weren't really cool to wear on their bikes were great to wear when playing their war games. "Charlie, look out!" Daniel warned as he bounced his bike up onto the pavement to avoid the car. His warning came too late.

About the Book
Charlie is just 11 years old when a road accident puts him into a coma. His family are encouraged to talk to him constantly with stories and anecdotes. In between these visits we embark on a journey that involves this family seven years in the future. His sister, now grown up falls in love with a handsome soldier with a dark and unhappy past. He is involved in rescuing his friends sister from drug traffickers and prostitution. It is a story of immense bravery and betrayal. The story line touches on many subjects including religion, domestic abuse, child abuse, cot death, terrorism, suicide and murder, but mostly it is a love story. There are striking parallels between the stories Charlie is told and what happens in the future. Could it all just be a dream?
About the Author
The author lives in England where she has served for thirty years as a police officer. She has always been keen to try her hand at something more creative and this is her first attempt at a novel. Although this story is pure fiction she has been able to draw on some of her considerable experience from her past career to bring a sense of reality and impact to the plot.
