Scars of Eternity

Something happened, causing him to stop in the middle of what he was about to do. He quickly ran out of the room. I could feel someone stroking my face, repeatedly saying “Please wake up!” Hair brushed against my cheek causing me to open my eyes. Staring at me with tearful eyes was Anna. “I'm sorry I broke my promise to you.” I said in a low voice “Come on Alex, get up we have to go now!” she said, her voice breaking “You need to get out of here and find help; you need to get as far away from this place as you can before he comes back. Leave me here this is what I was meant to do, I was meant to die here like this so you could live.” She quickly shook her head and swallowed hard. “That’s not going to happen, I need you to live. I don't know what I would do without you in my life” she said as a teardrop hit my face “I love you Alex” I felt my heart begin to race as she spoke those three words. The love of another, besides a family member, was something I had never experienced, it was incredible. But as usual it was short lived when the voice of my nightmare came into the room. “Aw how incredibly sentimental this is. You love him and he loves you, a love that is forbidden until death, it’s like Romeo and Juliet all over again.” Thanatos laughed wickedly “I truly underestimated you Anna, tricking me into going into the dining hall by setting your cell phone alarm to go off. A very well thought out plan given the circumstances.” She stood up and looked at him in both shock and anger. He walked towards us “Oh please continue your conversation, I find it to be rather touching.” he growled and stopped beside her, grabbing her throat. “Thanatos! Leave her out of this I told you to do whatever you wish to me just leave her alone! She has done nothing!” I yelled and as I did the weight of the rubble started to press harder against my chest causing me to lose my breath for a brief moment. “On the contrary, she stopped me from killing you, plus she is just a silly little human girl who serves really no purpose in this world, that is reason enough for me to slit her throat.” He said putting the knife to her neck. A sudden burning sensation filled my body, like wildfire in the wind. Never had I experienced such a feeling, rage, agony and love were intertwined with one another, they were all burning for her, so that I could prevent him from doing anything unspeakable. In one swift motion I pushed the wall off of me and sent it flying through the air. Thanatos looked at me and shoved Anna across the room causing her to hit the wall with a thump. His voice boomed like a freight train as he shouted “Let the games begin.”
