TESTIMONY Brought up in the foster care system Unaware of what true love felt like Abused from every angle Slaved behind grown folk touched inappropriately by two brothers, momma’s boyfriend, brother in law, neighbor, and choir director Started working at the age of twelve only to have my paycheck go towards the household, with promises of new school clothes Sheltered from the outside world Unable to attend school activities A voice I had, But no one listened Instead I was talked about like I was dirty You wonder what kind of effect your childhood has on your life, well I became cold hearted Nice, caring, giving, but cautious Of anyone getting to close there’s a wall built high I have no trust for any guy I have a great passion for children I am there voice Goodness can come from evilness I’m striving to be better But the pain is still there What gets me through day to day is I know GOD cares You see without him this wouldn't be possible Me telling my story And for that alone he deserves all the glory If you happen to know a child lend a smile Any kind gesture helps Putting a smile on children faces Brings joy to me So please help me fulfill my dream
