This time I was sure I couldn’t have faith in his word. He got on his knees once again and begged for forgiveness when it happened, but the difference was that to me this time it seemed more like a ritual than the truth. I knew I was a fool to believe him the times before when I did. If he could do so even after we were engaged, there was no guarantee it won’t be a regular occurrence once we were married. I needed to get away, take some time to think. I knew what decision I would eventually have to make but I didn’t know how to bring myself to do it. When I was around him, I was constantly thinking about how he made me feel. It made me confused. When I was with my family I thought about how ashamed they might feel if I called off the engagement. When I was alone, I felt even worse. I needed time to work through what it is that I wanted for myself before I could relay my thoughts to anyone I cared about or those who cared about me. I was standing at the biggest cross-roads of my life: do I knowingly continue on this path sacrificing my happiness for the name of love or do I learn to stand up for myself in order to break free from a possible life of endless misery?

About the Book
The narrator of the book is a young woman who finds love when she least expects it. She is led to believe she has found her soul-mate when events start to take the wrong turn. Through stories of her childhood of growing up in Bangladesh and spending her teenage years in Australia, we get into the deep psyche of this young woman who must decide right from wrong as the events unfold before her. Can she make the decision that is right for her and at the same time not betray the beliefs that she had grown up with? Can she find the strength and courage to break away from the turmoils in her life and finally have a future that buries the heartache of the past? Or she doomed into a life-long nightmare with no hope of release?
About the Author
Shaila is an Australian-born writer based in London. She has had a passion for writing since childhood, but only when life started to throw curve-balls at her at an early age that she decided to put those experiences down in paper. Before the age of twenty-five she experienced the loss of a parent, endured turbulent relationships and seen over thirty countries - all of which contribute to the storyline of her first masterpiece, Crossroads. Her own life experiences and those of the people around her are the inspiration behind her writing, allowing the readers to be able to relate to it. The characters are defined in a way that encourages imagination to run free. Her writing style is compelling and honest, taking the reader on a journey of self-discovery.
