About the Book

"A People Without a Country: Voices from Palestine," is a collection of essays about life in Palestine and the Occupied territories, written by Christian and Moslem Palestinians, and collected and translated by Marian Saadeh whose family has resided in Bethlehem in the Holy Land for generations. The pieces are without affectation, representing an eyewitness, but generally apolitical perspective, on the impact of Israeli occupation on Palestinian daily life. Both Harry Katz, who edited the volume, and Marian Saadeh, believe that the essays speak for themselves in their honest and unadorned picture of life in the Holy Land from a variety of perspectives: students; artisans; housewives, historians, and everyday people .

About the Author

C0-EDITED BY MARIAN SAADEH and HARRY KATZ MARIAN SAADEH: A recent graduate of Bethlehem University in Bethlehem, Palestine with a major in psychology, Marian currently works in public relations for the Guidance and Training Center for Families and Children in Bethlehem. She has collected all the pieces for this publication and translated them, when necessary, from Arabic to English. HARRY KATZ: A graduate of SUNY Binghamton with a major in anthropology, Harry has worked as a teacher, and in residential settings for adults with psychiatric disabilities. .He wrote the introduction to "A People Without a Country: Voices from Palestine," and edited the essays that are part of this publication..
