This book is an inside look at the day to day activities in Leeton during the 1940‘s including the newspapers, letters from those who served in the military and personal accounts of those who remained at home. Numerous photographs are included that provide a visual made by the soldiers‘ and families‘ on their own cameras as they sought to deal with those frightening times. The story of World War II is presented from a unique perspective and will surprise many. It is enlightening to see a dedicated people committed to doing every thing they could to support the huge number of sons and daughters that volunteered and left to fight the War.


About the Author

Bob Wyatt was born in Johnson County and reared in the small town of Leeton, Missouri. Graduating from the local high school he continued his education with a B.S. in Bible from Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, a Bachelor of Music Education and M.S. in Education from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg and added correspondence work from Johnson Bible College, Kimber-lin Heights, Tennessee. He has had over 50 books published dealing with family and local histories along with a couple of cookbooks and a Christian mystery series. His other work experience includes ministering to two congregations; heading The Christian Government Minis-tery which provided spiritual encourage-ment to the Missouri legislature in the 1970‘s; editor and owner of three small town newspapers, a two county shopper and a printing shop; operater of a restaurant; was a high school band and choir director; and currently organizes musical productions of teenagers that he takes to Europe every spring in a cultural exchange. He recently served on the Leeton (Missouri) City Council in his home community, is curator for the local museum and serves as president of the Mineral Creek Historical Society. He has served as a deacon, teacher, superintendent of Sunday school, and worked in many positions in church camp and vacation Bible schools. His love for life is demonstrated in his effort to serve others emphasizing the need for people to work together to lift each other to higher levels of accomplishment and Christian witness.
