About the Book

The main purpose of this book is to help people to understand the signs of salvation. I have long believed many believe they have salvation but don't even understand what it is. It is obvious from the Bible that salvation comes from believing on Jesus Christ. It comes from faith and not works. It is also clear that works will follow the kind of belief the Bible is talking about. I have attempted to show how the two work together. The only way you can be sure of your salvation is to examine the effects of it.

I pray that if you don't have true salvation this book will help you to understand that and lead you to salvation. I pray that if you do have salvation and the works are there, this book will be a source of great encouragement for you. And I pray that if you have salvation but the works aren't quite what they should be this book will bring you closer to Christ.

About the Author

I was born and raised in the small town of Sneads, Florida. I grew up working on farms, in grocery stores and anywhere else I could make a dollar. I fished and hunted at every opportunity and always enjoyed nature. I appreciated the fact that God provided the beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

I seldom missed church, mostly because my parents insisted on it and would tell you I was a Christian. Yet, somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew I wasn't living the Christian life. While Christmas shopping in 2001, at 49 years old, I was looking through the inspirational books for my mother's present and I wound up buying several for myself. I had no idea why because I seldom even read the Bible.

On February 12, 2002, I read John 16: 7, "Nevertheless, I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart I will send him unto you." That verse stuck in my head as I read verses 8-12. When I read verse 13, it was as if the entire Bible made sense. "Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall he speak: and He will shew ye things to come."

I suddenly knew what was missing. I jumped up, went outside and tearfully prayed for forgiveness and for the Holy Spirit to come into me. I asked for a sign and when I opened my eyes, it was there. The Holy Spirit in my heart was the sign. I didn't tell anyone until March, during a revival being preached by Brother Don Graham. When I made my public profession of faith, the pastor, Brother Danny Crosby, asked how many had prayed for my salvation and almost every hand in the church went up. Now I knew why I had been led to buy and read the inspirational books. I'm so thankful to my wife, Shirley, for putting me put on the prayer list for salvation and to all those who prayed for me.

I turned 50 on July 25 of that year and preached my first sermon the first Sunday of August. I have never missed an opportunity to preach since and have been pastor at Northside Baptist Church in Dellwood, Florida for the last six years.
