Many of my clichés and perceptions about stroke and disability have been transformed from trite platitudes into newfound truths. As a result, I have tried to develop a positive entertaining message.It is my wish to reach more stroke survivors, or disabled persons with my message, and in some faint method, make a difference. You may remain confident that my agenda is not hidden. It is to let everyone know that stroke can and does happen to many people. Stroke can affect anyone, anytime, rich or poor, black or white, old or young man or woman! Not many people are living following a brainstem hemorrhagic stroke, so that makes me an anomaly. Age has mellowed much of my thoughts, but still I have tenacity to stand up for the rights of people with disabilities. Let me share my stories with you! I may step on toes a little. Mine are indeed the first ones to be crunched. If I do step on toes, rest assured that I was aiming at the heart.

About the Book
I do not claim to be an expert, but living with stroke since 1990 has taught me many things about “life”. I hope that as you read this book you will share some of my findings and perhaps gain the understanding that there is life following a stroke. People have inspired me in ways that made me realize that no one has to face any crucial medical emergency alone. Many stories of their adventures have shown me how to guide my own life through the ups and downs of a daily routine. It is my desire that one can understand my situations in a way so as to help them deal with the problems they may face or are facing. I remind you that these are only my opinions or circumstances; each individual situation varies, but in the resolution of any problem, the methods from many sources may help. I only hope some comfort and knowledge may be gained from my walk through life.
About the Author
Robert F. Smith, born in Wilson, North Carolina in 1947. Robert is the survivor of cancer and a stroke leaving him partially paralyzed on the left side. In my opinion, Robert, over the years has become more than a friend, he has become family, always knowing the right things to say when needed. I do not like to look at his occurrence as a disability, I like to look at it as a life changing event that brought out the best in him. Challenges to some, which never come with explanation of why they happen, can always bring out good if you keep a positive light, which is what he does best. I am very honored and proud to call Robert Smith a friend, my best friend.
