It's In Your Blood! "Genetics or Excuses?"

The common man from all walks of life will establish several different types of relationships along the way. From personal to business relationships, a man has to make the best decisions for himself. In this book, I’ll focus more on the man’s responsibilities. The transitional stage is vital. The only way a boy makes the full transformation is by learning from a man or men who have made the full transformation themselves. It’s sad that we have a lot of grown boys in this world, and I can honestly say I was one myself. Manhood begins with the spirit. If you’re right in the spiritual realm, then you will make the right decisions, regardless of the situation. Man’s sinful nature is a tough thing to deal with. Most sin has an addictive nature about it, whether it is lying, alcoholism, or fornication. If we are consistently acting in a sinful manner, we will develop a habit or addiction to that sin. This will continue unless we replace our bad habits with good ones and deny our flesh the pleasures of the world. The Bible speaks of the generational curse. This is when people suffer for the sins of their parents or their ancestors. It has little to do with individual salvation or spiritual destiny—or does it? Deuteronomy 24:16 of the (KJV) King James Version “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin. Then there’s Exodus 34:7 of the (KJV) Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon x the children’s children, unto the third and to the forth generation. Personally, when I first read this, my perception of this Scripture was misconstrued. Look closely at the part that states, “He punishes the children and their children for the sin of their fathers to the third and fourth generation.” If my father sin, he will be punished for only his sins. If I commit the same sins as my father, my evil deeds shall not go unpunished, but only I will answer to God for my indiscretions. It’s only a generational curse if my father, son, and I commit the same sin, voiding God’s commands. What do I mean when using the phrase, “it’s in your blood”? Let’s start with genetics, the branch of biology that deals with heredity and genetic variations. Heredity is the passing on of genetic factors, such as hair color or flower color, from one generation to the next in living organisms. “It’s in your blood,” is only part of the book’s title. What exactly do I mean when I say excuses? My definition of an excuse is a false reason that enables somebody to do something they want to do or avoid something they don’t want to do. Most men wrestle with themselves the majority of their lives trying to pin down their identities. This could be a great thing in terms of a progressive career (excelling in a career of choice and enjoying what it is that you do), or it could lead to a miserably stressful life because of the countless blunders it causes (costly mistakes made over and over again, normally resulting in an extremely difficult lifestyle). It’s impractical to have a different outcome when using the same approach. Several questions surface over time: How do I become a better man? How do I become a better husband? How do I become a better father? How do I become a better friend? How do I become a better person altogether? From what I’ve witnessed along the paths I’ve traveled in my life, women usually know what they want. Unfortunately, the majority of men spend half their lives trying to find themselves. A man without direction is lost in every aspect of his life, which results in men finding themselves all over the place. Does this sound familiar? Play or be played—you can’t help it; it’s in your blood! That’s where the milliondollar question comes in to play: is it genetics or excuses? Some may even say it’s a little bit of both. Here, my life is an open book; see where I’ve been, where I am, and where I’m going. Hopefully you will take something from it. But whatever you do, share it with someone else.
