About the Book

I have stressed in this book, from a spiritual and practical standpoint, how one should utilize the mind in ways for which God created it. Much of the content can be clarified or substantiated with Biblical quotes. Therefore, girth the loins of your mind. Be prayerful with hope as you reach for the Creator to benefit your mind. Allow Him to be your mind regulator. He understands the mechanisms of each of His creation. He is the perfect Physician and Teacher of the mind. It is said that the mind is Satan’s playground. Yes, it is if we allow him to enter and lodge there. We need to build a wall of faith equipped with a closed door around the mind to prevent his entry. In doing so, we can more readily keep our mind’s eye attentive, it’s ears opened, and have an alertness that protects us from evil strongholds, even those of our own flesh. Listen to your spirit, heart and conscience. Allow your mind to be still and listen to the positive voices that alert you to the things of God, being fortified with strength on high. This will help you to avoid confusion, being overwhelmed, or lost and will bring focus. Strong willpower is needed and will help pull you up towards God, and not down to where abnormalities plague the mind. I impart to you this advice, from a place of experience, from a place of concern and from a place of love, rooted in God.

About the Author

Willie M. V. Stephens is the author of four other books: Rock in the Weary Land, Exiting the Weary Land, There: A Place in God’s Will, and Proverbials of Experience, Wisdom, and Knowledge. (AuthorHouse.com) She is an avid worker of the Lord Jesus and an inspiration to both young and old from all walks of life, and is a strong witness of God, to win souls. Since childhood she has been a firm believer in God, stressing the importance of serving the Lord, possessing good moral values and obtaining education to be used to His glory. She emphasizes that through God’s power, with enduring faith, prayer, fasting and hard work, anything is possible. She is often heard saying “Get education to the glory of God, putting Him ahead. It is He who fashioned you with learning abilities; He is God! Reach for the skies. I am a mother of nine, not one, two, three or eight . . . but nine. All are in my heart . . . what I want for one, I want for the others.” Growing up, Willie farmed with her “Daddy” and “Mom”. Afterwards, she married, and she and her husband moved to a neighboring town. She is the mother of nine children (whom she dedicated to God while still in her womb) and has been instrumental in each of their lives, influencing them to achieve many accomplishments with a strong spiritual foundation. Willie’s many talents include designer/seamstress, poet, gospel songwriter, etc. She has held numerous service and community oriented jobs with institutions and agencies such as the Louisiana State University (LSU) Cooperative Extension teaching nutrition while stretching dollars, Community Action, Juvenile Detention Center working with the youth, several hospitals and home health agencies. She has also done volunteer work in the neighborhood, aiding LSU home demonstration agents in fashion. She also volunteered in the Community Center, teaching cutting and sewing. Willie was also certified to work in nursing services. Additionally, she worked as an “extra” in the movie “The Toy,” in which Richard Pryor and Jackie Gleason starred. She has also served in the church, as church secretary, choir member and occasional speaker using material that she had written. Willie encourages that every day and every night we must walk with God to build a bridge to that heavenly mansion not made with mortal hands. God does talk to her. He knows when the answers are needed. Through trying times, she would stress we must “look for a brighter day.” During illness she would emphatically declare what is found in Isaiah 53:5 “ . . . with his stripes we are healed.” Willie feels that God can be trusted for anything, including delivering unsound minds. Even when our courage has been wrung dry we should yet trust and worship God. She believes worship is a weapon and a burden destroyer. Knowing that she has a charge to keep and a God to glorify, Willie continues to be an inspiration to her children and others. In all, she gives God the honor, and dedicates her life as well as this book to God.
