This book “A DEFICIT OF LOGIC in the Great Lakes Region of Africa” is about how self-seeking politicians in my life have destroyed my understanding of real politics. It is about my unfortunate double jeopardy, and how I was betrayed by the ones I respected and trusted most. It also talks about how we might begin the process of changing our politics and base it on only the truth about our bitter history and forge a better understanding and respect for each other. The book “A DEFICIT OF LOGIC” mainly highlights the most unfortunate errors of judgement, executed by some misguided politicians whose thirst for power defeated their logic and wrongly thought that by assassinating President Habyarimana (RIP), they would have a short cut to political power and easily solve the many years long standing animosity between the Hutu and Tutsi people in Rwanda. My argument however is that we have no choice. Telling the sincere but bitter truth is a major foundation and corner stone on which to build real reconciliation and forgiveness among the three lovely tribes of Rwanda. You don’t need an extraordinary mind to see that a vast majority of Ugandans and Rwandese, Congolese and Burundians in the great lakes region of Africa, including all peace loving souls living in this world, want to see the bloody animosity between Rwandese Hutus and Tutsis peacefully end and they live in harmony. The majority of people, however, are weary of the dead zone that politics of narrow interests is vying for advantage and ideological minorities are seeking to impose their own versions of "absolute truth". Whoever we are, we feel in our deep selves the lack of honesty, rigor, and common sense in our policy debates, and dislike what appears to be continuous menu of false or cramped up realities. Most Rwandese, people of Rwandese origin, and all peace loving souls who happen to know the Rwandese people, sense correctly that the Rwandese nation’s most significant challenges are being ignored, and that if we do not change soon, we may be another generation that leaves behind a worst and more fractured Rwanda than the one we inherited. Perhaps more than any other time in our recent history, we need a new kind of politics, we need a kind of politics based on telling the shear truth, one that can excavate and build upon those shared understandings that pulls all Rwandese together. This is not to say that I know exactly how to do it. I do not. But I seriously think that it is the understanding of our true history that is going to determine our peaceful co-existence in this our God given beautiful part of the world.

About the Author
I am a peace loving citizen of the Great lakes in Africa called Francis Xavier Ndagabanye Muhoozi. I am a Ugandan Mukiga of Rwandese origin, because my grandfather Alfred Ssalongo Ndagabanye was a Hutu from Mukingo, Ruhengeri district in the Republic of Rwanda. He moved to Uganda in the early 1920s as a young boy. My father George William Ndagabanye was born at a place called Jinja, Busoga, Uganda in 1938. My father then married a typical Mukiga girl, from Kabale Uganda in 1957. I was then natively and traditionally born in December 1959 at our present home in Kabale Municipality in Uganda as my parents’ second child. I am married with three children. I am a University of Eastern Africa graduate and hold a Bsc. Agriculture degree with a minor in Industrial Technology. After my graduation in Eldoret Kenya in 1987, I worked with a United Nations Development Programme Project in the Republic of Rwanda from 1988 until 1993 when I was forced to abandon my work station in Kigali Rwanda because of the civil war that had reached alarming levels, and went back to my country Uganda. In Uganda I started my own fuel business as a Shell Uganda retail dealer from 1995 until 2002 when I managed to build my own fuel station in my home town of Kabale. However I was forced again to leave Uganda due to government agents increased personalised persecution because of who I am and my past relationship with the Late president Habyarimana. I am now a refugee in the United Kingdom living in Manchester and hoping that the situation will improve and change in our great lakes region of Africa that I may go back home. I have no blood relationship with the late president Juvenal Habyarimana. However, because of my close childhood friendship with his first son Jean Pierre Habyarimana (RIP), president Habyarimana took me up when I was just 17 years old and showed me an extraordinary, unconditional love and the kindness you would not expect to find in a big politician like him at that time. So his assassination devastated my all understanding of humanity. In my quest to search for this truth, this book “A DEFICIT OF LOGIC” briefly analyses what Rwanda was before the colonialism, during colonialism, after independence and today, so that we can reliably see where Rwanda as a country and its loving people are heading to. I am analysing the events in my personal life with the sole purpose of contributing to ideas and feelings already expressed by many peace loving people, in order to establish and find the truth about Rwanda the country, the assassination of president Habyarimana, the unfortunate Rwanda genocide, and try to expose the egos, self-centredness, superiority complexes, and extremely poor senses of judgement that president Paul Kagame of Rwanda assisted by president Yoweri Museveni of Uganda executed and unleashed on the innocent civilian people of Rwanda during the civil war of 1990. I call it poor senses of judgement because by the time the war ended in 1997, more than six million innocent people including women and children had lost their lives in both Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), all caused by this senseless war. Searching for the Truth, and Genuine Reconciliation are the driving factors in my book, "A Deficit of Logic in the Great Lakes Region of Africa.
