A Life on an Ocean Wave

This book is dedicated to people like myself who have spent their lives at sea. I shall start with the end of my school years when I hadn’t a clue what I wanted to do, work wise. Then it goes through my cadetship in the Merchant Navy with a reputable British company, who I shall not name, and, who will probably disown me. Like many cadets in the 1980’s I was made redundant after I completed my “time” & spent a few years “Freelancing” (Bumming around) with various companies & to an extent still am. I shall try to tell my story as true to life as possible, some of it may sound a bit far fetched but anyone who has either been in the Merchant navy or the forces will tell you that these things go on & that some of the characters that you meet are as eccentric as you will find anywhere. The Merchant navy is a profession, that, unfortunately for British seafarers is becoming harder to get into & once in is nearly impossible to stay in due to the new qualifications that the powers that be keep on inflicting on us. That’s my bitch so I’ll now get on with the story.
