The novel is an account of my experience of having cancer over the last ten years. It is very personal, and very honest. It focuses mainly on my initial diagnoses at the age of 16, but also touches on the my four subsequent relapses. I wrote it primarily for other teenagers who are about to go through similar treatment, those who are beginning their journey, perhaps facing months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I hope I have been successful in my design for the novel to be eye opening, but not daunting, comforting, but not sugar-coated.
I live in London, surrounded by a very supportive family. My boyfriend of four years has also shown unfaltering strength throughout my battle with the disease, he has been a pillar of strength during my darkest hours.
'Kiss From A Rose' is about appreciating the beauty of life's bud as it blooms. Although you may catch yourself on life's thorns, the pain you incur does not make the rose any less exquisite.
