Do – The Definition
Do in Korean is translated into English as “the art” or “the way of”…in the Korean language used in Taekwon-Do. Meaning the The Art, or The Way Of used in Taekwon-Do, meaning the Art, or Way of breaking or smashing with the Hand and Foot. Taekwon-Do is a martial art designed for the military, and based wholly on principles of science, as opposed to other martial arts which include spiritual foundations or other mystic principles. Taekwon-Do includes fighting with knives and other weapons, punches and strikes to disable an opponent with one blow, but can also be used in a sport such as is done in the Olympics. The Olympic sport is not really what Taekwon-Do is about, however, it provides some rules and a way that people can compete fighting with their feet as well as hands. One other major differential from other martial arts is that Taekwon-Do is designed for a many to many situation such as a bar fight, or a war, in which case you don’t want to roll around on the floor using lock outs on shoulder joints, for example, because you’ll risk getting your head kicked in by another of the enemy. Taekwondo-Do is meant to enable the practitioner to end the fight with one blow, so that you can move on to the next enemy.
The art of life and the way you live is the fortunate thing that you have the ability to effect. We utilize the lessons that we have learned to make every day decisions or judgments that effect the way we go. The original civilization of the western world was built upon stories compiled and eventually written down as the agreed principles called the Torah. (first five books of the Jewish / Christian Bible) Now the law makes use of precedence to substantiate judgments which are utilizing previous decisions made, and which have been agreed on by decision makers who decided what was acceptable. Henceforth those laws may be applied in similar situations going forward as precedence, and this logical reasoning is still used today in the Law Courts of most countries.
Isn’t it strange that men always have a problem stopping and asking directions while women have no problem to ask somebody they don’t know how to get where they are going. Perhaps some men think they should be able to navigate their own way to the destination without help. Maybe so, but wouldn’t it be great if we had a map to find where we want to go with our objectives in business or sports?
Entire religions are built on studying and even worshiping the way of somebody, or the way we are supposed to be, but there is little focus on the ways of being successful.
“Do It! is about those fundamental principles founded in stories going back years that help us to analyze situations and make those judgments that take us down the path leading to improving and achieving our goals. If early civilization could agree what was acceptable thousands of years ago, certainly we can use modern logic and reasoning to define some methods in modern business and sports.
Do you know what you want out of life, out of your career, or out of your family life? I’m sure we all have challenging careers, which could use a little help once in a while.
Perhaps it is not critical at this stage that you have an objective to reach. Maybe you just want to be happy. However, there are certain criteria which you have yourself, that add up to making you happy which may be your “involuntary” objectives in reality.
“Do It” is about helping you be what you want to be. I hope that you make the most out of it. You will only get out of it what you put into it.
Your personal perception of “Do It” enables you to adapt its principles to your own particular situation, and will help increase the probability of your success of achieving your objectives and therefore you can be happier ☺.
“Do It” encompasses principles including the current status of your situation with respect to an objective, tactics about how to reach the objective, and many other influencing things such as values, motivation, etc.
Time is a finite resource and this means that we are limited to the amount of time we have. Decisions are made, and paths are chosen which will effect where you will end up, and each decision you make and each action you take will have consequences. Ideally the consequences will be what you want, which will help you get to the next successful stage towards your own final objective.
Which is the best way? The best way is the way that works best for you. This book is going to make some suggestions to help you improve your ways.
The question comes down to what are you going to do about it? Hopefully you will be inspired to achieve the results you want. “Do It!” is meant to provide you a way to almost hypnotize yourself into doing what you need to do to achieve your goals. Its meant to provide you with the ability and confidence to convince you to achieve anything you believe you want.

A wise person once said, “The road to success is always under construction“, and this infers that success requires a constant look at where we are, and what needs to be done to get to the next level towards the ultimate objective. The level of achievement that you expect is equal to the amount of effort you will put into getting it. If you are prepared to commit yourself to improving, in whatever that might be, then put your values and wants into check, and consider whether you might slightly amend them if it is to help you reach your final destiny. If you are the kind of person that cannot and will not accept failure, then you may have to suffer the anguish and frustration that your lack of self discipline is going to deliver you. When you are ready to commit to improving, and are willing to take the necessary steps to reach your goal, then you are ready for “Do It”.
