True to his word, Burton Mosley and Minnie turned into the driveway at precisely 3:30 p.m. I walked outside to greet my visitors and waited on the door stoop until the truck's engine shut off. All I could see of Minnie was the top of her head, but when she stepped out of the vehicle her appearance took me by surprise. She was dressed in full Indian attire from head to toe, making her more formidble than ever. Burton quickly came around the truck wearing a grey Stetson and a big smile. He could tell I was intrigued by Minnie's costume. I, on the other hand, did my best not to smirk or upset my elderly guest in any way. It was rather obvious to me that my presence was resented, even though she was on my property.

About the Book
The Yegua Creek has been a defi ning character in shaping many lives in and around what is now Lee County, Texas. Sometimes a lady, sometimes a harlot, she can sustain life or recall it at her pleasure. She has been witness to many events in her lifetime--some mundane, others phenomenally bizarre. However, the Yegua has yet to reveal one of her darkest secrets--one she has kept hidden beside her murky waters for many, many years.
About the Author
A retired school teacher, Sheryl Kleinschmidt was raised in Central Texas not many miles from the Yegua Creek. Early interests included hunting for arrowheads and other Indian artifacts around the state as well as studying various Indian groups. While doing research for a local newspaper, she was fortunate enough to spend a couple of days with professional archaeologists working a site on the Yegua.
An avid reader herself, Sheryl now has time to write and this is the first of a possible series of novels in the making. Today she lives in Glen Rose, Texas, where she spends much time outdoors walking, hiking and gardening.
