About the Book

“No! Young man, she said, These are not tears of the past; Never cry over what has passed! These are not droplets of a heavy rain Which cause much damage, Sorrow and pain… These are like dew to a flower, Refreshing, full of power… These are tears of the Future, Tears of Tomorrow!”

About the Author

“ In a world where many young artists thrive for fame, fortune and recognition, Salim Makhoul, is truly a young artist; however, what he seeks is neither fame, fortune nor recognition, but the satisfaction that his work will, hopefully, bring a touch of tranquility and enchantment to the hearts of those who read it. In “Tears of Tomorrow”, Salim captures the essence of simplicity, yet profound understanding of the human soul. It is a deep reflection into ourselves. Its diverse themes written at different, yet significant intervals of his life invite us to escape into a world of serenity as we leave the cares of this world—if only for a short while. Salim Makhoul was born on October 28, 1986, in Zahleh, a town in the Bekaa Valley, in Lebanon. He has already achieved what most people have only dreamt of. Winner of several English and Arabic Poetry Contests (ranking 1st and 2nd), Master of Ceremonies at the Arabic Poetry Contests (twice), receiver of a distinction standard certificate in the Oxford Examination in English, and writer of “Spot On”, his first book of poetry, Salim is truly a young man of many talents. Salim attended "le Collège des Sœurs des Saints Cœurs Zahleh—Rassieh" from 1990 – 2004. He graduated in 2004 – Life Science Division – ranking first. From 2005 – 2007, Salim attended the American University of Beirut and received his BS in Chemistry, and a minor in Biology. Recently, he has finished working on his masters degree in Chemistry, and will defend his thesis next spring, while studying at St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology (3rd year) at the University of Balamand. And in closing, we have turned the pages of “Tears of Tomorrow”, read and put the book away on the shelf of yesterday, with a deeper insight and quiet acceptance of Life in all its shades and the knowledge that we are not dead to Life and Truth. Rest in peace Samir, to whom this book is dedicated – you must be proud!” Julie Malek (Editor and member of the Association of Teachers of English in Lebanon)
