About the Author

Barbara Lawrence believes her purpose in life is to inspire and motivate others to be better than before, hence her book on self development tips. This is not too surprising as she is passionate about Personal Accountability, a concept which is about claiming 100% ownership of one's actions and their outcomes to ensure improvement.

Her writing career started in 1985, as a young journalist with the Vanguard Newspapers, Lagos Nigeria, when her father, a renowned broadcaster and journalist himself convinced her that she could write. However, her passion for Personal Accountability developed during her 21 year career stint with the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd, where she started off as an Environmentalist and left as the Regional Organizational Effectiveness, Change & Planning Manager, for Shell Africa in 2008. As the Transformation Manager in 2003, the key challenge was helping the leadership of the company to drive and move its change program forward. This role involved extensive networking with senior leaders in the company and around the Shell Group worldwide. She was also responsible for driving change, internal communication , embedding required behaviours and ways of working to improve business performance and organisational effectiveness

Currently, she is the MD of Insolitus Nigeria Ltd, an Organisation Development and Communications Consultancy, where services also include soft skills training. This has provided her the opportunity to live her purpose as she is constantly meeting and sharing her passion for self improvement with her clients particularly through her flag ship Personal Accountability training. She also works with Youths in her local church and through Act Right, an outreach organisation she founded for the promotion of leadership and personal accountability amongst the future generation. Barbara has complemented her vast experience with a diverse range of local and offshore training, and is an alumnus of the prestigious IMD and INSEAD institutions. She has a teenage son.
