“Oh, nothing Baljeet, You are just too kind of a person!” said Raj. “What do you mean?” questioned Baljeet. “Ok, listen to me carefully my friend. All I am trying to say is that…ok look you have never left India, forget India you haven’t even left Punjab. You have to be a little more aggressive. I know you’re going to a new place, but you’re going to America. America’s the best country in the universe. There are bad people in this world. You can’t trust anyone but yourself. You have to listen to yourself only. You must not follow anyone’s path but your own. All I am saying is America’s different from India. Well that’s what I have heard at least. Baljeet I haven’t known you for long but all I am saying is to just take care of yourself.

About the Book
Baljeet Singh is 15 year old boy who emigrated from Punjab, India with his family to New York. He left India because his father was very ill and he needed support from his family that resides in New York. His mother passed away in a car accident when Baljeet was 8 years old. Baljeet experiences his father's demise and a series of ups and downs with his Americanized cousins who know nothing about their Indian culture. This is the story of the struggle of Baljeet Singh's life, the hardships he faces as he tries to assimilate to the Western Culture while maintaining his own traditions in America.
About the Author
The Look From Beyond is my imagination and creativity, I started writing this novel on flight back to America from Dubai. Over the years I heard about mistreatements towards Sikh people, who came to America to become prosperous like many other people who immigrate to America. Many of them were mistakened to be something which they would never think of being. I was inspired by my own religon to write this novel because Sikhism is a part of my religon that I love, nontheless my passion for writing has greatly increased through my time in high school. I am 17 years old and I live in Edison, New Jersey. I always moved a lot during elementary and middle school. As I was always on the move, I wrote all the time about how I was going to miss my old friends or what to expect at my new home in a different city. As a child I moved nine times and attended seven different schools.
