Harold Saves Christmas

Harold is a platypus. Some might say a slightly naughty or mischievous platypus from Australia. Charlie, Harold’s best friend, is a little bear from wherever little bears come from. Harold and Charlie live with Mandy and Steve who have the impossible job of keeping the two friends out of trouble. They all live together in a little house in Cambridge and this is where our story begins….

“If Stanley’s feeling better now,” said Mandy, “it’s time to switch on the fairy lights.”

“Three..two..one..now!” shouted everyone. And as they said “now,” Stanley switched on the lights. The tree instantly lit up and sparkled in all directions. “Wow” said Stanley, and everyone agreed, it was the best Christmas tree ever.

 “I’ve got a few extra presents to add to my Christmas list” said Harold whose list was already the longest that Stanley had ever seen, “if you could please make sure that Santa gets it in time.”

“I’m afraid there’s a bit of a problem,” said Stanley, “it’s Santa….”

Everyone went quiet and looked very worried.

What’s wrong with Santa?” asked Harold who was the most worried of all.“Too many mince pies,” said Stanley patting his stomach, “he can’t fit down the chimneys anymore.”“That’s a disaster,” said Harold, “if he can’t fit down the chimney how can he deliver all my presents?”

“That’s the problem,” said Stanley, “unless we think of something before tonight then nobody will get any presents this Christmas!”

“There must be a way” said Harold as he scratched his head and rubbed his beak. “That’s it,” he said…..
