On Seeing Earth From Space

“Before I flew I was already aware of how small and vulnerable our planet is; but only when I saw it from space, in all its ineffable beauty and fragility, did I realize that human kind's most urgent task is to cherish and preserve it for future generations.”

Suddenly, piercing from behind the rim of the moon, in long, slow-motion moments of immense majesty, the emergence of a sparkling blue and white jewel, a light, delicate sky-blue sphere laced with slowly swirling veils of white, rising gradually like a small pearl in a thick sea of black mystery, Earth . . . home. This third planet from the Sun is the largest of the terrestrial planets in its own Solar System in diameter, in mass, and in density.

A panorama of brilliant deep blue ocean, that contains many shades of green and gray and white - is of atolls and clouds. This Pacific scene in motion is rimmed by the great curved limb of the Earth. It has a thin halo of blue held close, and beyond, black space. The view of the planet is like a glimpse of divinity. The horizon is like a curved line. It is accentuated by a thin seam of dark blue light - its own atmosphere. Although its mass is apparent, still, its sight in space is somehow terrifying because it appears so fragile.

The view like the void of space denies all breath, yet even more is missing, something is strangely unfulfilled. Here is a tremendous visual spectacle, but viewed in silence. There is no grand musical accompaniment; no triumphant orchestra, nor inspired sonata or symphony.

Looking outward to the blackness of space, sprinkled with the glory of a universe of lights, there is majesty, but no welcome. Earth is the sole welcoming planet. There, contained in the thin, moving, incredibly fragile shell of the biosphere is everything that is dear to its inhabitants, all the human drama and comedy. Here is where life is; were all the filling from each body resides.

Growing closer to it, Earth appears so much smaller, the color changes to a light blue, yet it seems still, touchingly alone. This earthly home of humans must be defended like a holy relic.

As Earth sits in this void of space, a vibrancy of the blue, green, and white sphere emanates in an aerial view that looks like a postcard.  And traveling back now some distance from Earth; outside the planet's orbit is a fleet of titanium like spaceships, docked and armed to the teeth.

          Fully certified to all aerospace specifications and muscled with exceptional strength to weight ratio, are the elevated temperature performance and corrosion resistance fleet of ships that launch from Earth's Lunar Launch Bay. Like a naval ship yard filled with warships and ships armed for any battle, the lunar ships are of varying size and armory but all are imposing and their mission is immediately clear by their assemblage. Their glistening titanium-like hulls are most significant to their mightier than jet engine and airframe components that are subject to temperatures way past eleven hundred degree Fahrenheit.  These ships are unbeatable.  They are built to win any battle.  Their hulls and Weapons Bays’ are more than adequately equipped and ready to fight.  The accompanying fighting force is mighty.  In addition this manned space fighting brigade of aircrafts, revs up one to the other with more than solid rocket booster cases, but mind targeted guidance control pressure vessels, and an endless variety of applications allowing light weight armor shielding maneuverability and reliability. They fly in a diamond formation clearly targeted toward an enemy.

          Earth's Master ship leads the fleet and docks with an alien Edenite Command ship in space. The Edenite ship looks swift, lofty, but somewhat clumsy in comparison.  The Edenite ship is also battle ready, and can certainly cause some damage, but its maneuverability is lacking, the Earth ship has a clear battle advantage.

          On board the Edenite ship is a conference room.  Chancellor Demetrios of the Planet Eden and the Planet Galleon Leader Alexander sit, as twenty nine year old, Secret Agent Lorabella Kurv Wiles from Earth, walks in, grabs Demetrios by the throat, and lifts him from the chair that he occupies.  She is supernaturally strong, confident, and one super curvy chick.  Lorabella is Earth’s best hope and defense. She is Earth’s secret defense weapon; she is the present day culmination of the legacy of Vela Kurv.  Lorabella is more than human; she has Edenite alien DNA cells all compressed into a haunting sex symbol figure.
