“COMPLEX”

Nyah had recently moved into the complex. She had a mind of her own and plans for her future. Nyah kept a low profile, and had a 6th sense about her. She was not about to let herself be played by the negative elements within the complex.
Deven was the “NeNo Brown” type character, from the old cult movie… “New Jack City.” He had his pick from most of the resident’s women. They all knew what Deven was about, and it was only a matter of time before Deven would come calling on them to get his “need” met.
Deven’s female counterpart was Vivica. She was every male’s and some female’s fantasy…she knew it, and played it for all it was worth. Vivica was not the type of person you wanted on your case. She was extremely volatile, ruthless, wicked, and deadly. But her greatest asset was her physical beauty. The kids of the complex, both male and female, looked up to Deven and Vivica. That’s all they knew! All they lived for was to grow up to be as powerful as Deven and as beautiful as Vivica. Deven had some of the more aggressive kids in the complex on his payroll. They were his eyes and ears throughout the complex.

Pyriel never talked directly about himself, or about his past. Pyriel always knew he had a special gift from the Creator, he often had dreams that he was sent on missions by the Creator. The Creator, indeed, works in mysterious ways, and does have the greatest sense of humor of all!
The government had set up Top Secret Experimental Programs designed to locate, and appropriate “Gifted Children” to turn them into weapons….

“THERMAL”

IT looked more terrifying than they had remembered. It felt repulsive being so close to IT after all these years. All they could do was sit in the car, and stare at IT. They felt IT knew they were there, that IT was staring right back at them. They were the lucky ones. They had escaped IT’s wrath before; others weren’t as fortunate. They could only wonder how many lives—how many tormented souls had suffered ruination under IT’s spell.
Several creatures emerged from within IT, as they watched from across the street in the safety of their car. The creature stood there and glared at them. It’s gaze sent a chill through them; they felt it was time for them to pull off, so they did. After they turned the corner they were terrified to discover that the creature was following them. They drove around a few more corners to determine if they were truly being followed, or if it was just their imagination. Desperation struck them; it was now a fact! This creature from the IT was on their tail. Panic tried to paralyze them, but instead they made an abrupt turn on to the freeway….

“HARVESTER!”

Let’s continue with our Tour… I know…I know…it’s Creepy down here, but this is the place that has come to be know as… “Ground Zero!” Listen…you hear that? That deep breathing—that moaning—that low growling.
The Legend began years ago. It was something the parents told their children to make them mind. They’d say, “If you don’t do what I tell you… “HARVEY’s” gonna get you! Back then the kids made up a nursery rhythm for the beast:
“When you’re alone in a room,
Keep you feet off the floor!
Cause “HARVEY’s” gonna get ya,
He’ll eat through your door.
There’s nowhere to run,
There’s nowhere to hide!
When “HARVEY” gets through,
All that’s left is your hide.
Your screams won’t help,
Your cries can’t be heard.
When “HARVEY” gets through,
All that’s left is a TURD!”

“NEED!”

Need existed in her family before she was born, her mother had Need, her father had Need too! Both of them aspired to become Rich and Famous Entertainers. Fate had other plans for them.
Whitney, at age 10 was the oldest of the four children. The Need was strong in her, and her mother saw that. Whitney didn’t try to get attention—attention followed her wherever she was. Attention is like a double-edged razor blade, sooner or later, your gonna get cut. Whitney’s mother, Thelma, began pushing Whitney to become an entertainer almost at birth. Reluctantly, Whitney honored Thelma’s wishes. Eventually, Thelma’s wishes became Whitney’s desires, and all Whitney wanted to do was become the best entertainer there was. Whitney began wanting it so much that Need became an obsession, and Thelma knew that, in fact, Thelma used it. Any and every type of contest there was Thelma signed Whitney up.

There was no waiting until the child was talented enough to hold her own, Thelma just pushed Whitney on the stage to let her raw talent speak for itself. Thelma threw Whitney to the wolves. And each time, Whitney performed her little heart out, and time after time, the wolves fed on Whitney’s Need-filled heart. When Whitney wasn’t selected, Thelma simply found another meat rack from which to dangle Whitney. Thelma would not be denied. The Need was strong in Thelma, even if it was at Whitney’s cost.

But you see, in the great big world of the “Entertainment Business,” the wolves are plenty, and raw talent is only their desert!
