“There is only one solution,” says Jack.
“And what might that be?” replies Rodero.
“If you want me to cooperate, you have to let all of these people go.”
Rodero laughs hysterically and says, “You fool! You must be joking!”
“I’m not joking, Rodero. In a minute from now this building will be surrounded by the FBI, as well as my own agents. They know I’m here, and they will be certain that I am busy negotiating with you. Until they hear from me, they will certainly not negotiate with you,” explains Jack.
“And what if I just kill you? What if there is no negotiations? Will they just allow all of these people perish?” asks Rodero.
“Of course they will,” replies Jack.
Jack’s response draws a reaction of concern from the crowd of onlookers.

“Allow me to show you my business card,” says Jack. He reaches into his back pocket and withdraws his wallet. Jack removes a business card from one of the pockets and hands it to Rodero.
“What is this?” asks Rodero.
“Look at the title,” instructs Jack.
Rodero reads the position title under Jack’s name, which says, ‘Head of Counter-Terrorism, Homeland Security, Virginia.’
“With that position comes access to very classified information,” says Jack.

About the Book
Jack Cooper is an agent employed by the government to analyze surveillance footage and identify potential civilian security threats. Over a short period, Jack narrowly survives several horrendous accidents. He grows paranoid of his extra-ordinary circumstances, and searches through secret archives in an attempt to find anything that can explain the premonition he has deep down inside that his survival could not be simply due to pure luck.
He stumbles across information which tells of an ancient Amazonian myth, called Madariwa-Madariwa. The myth promises him survival of his next near death experience, whatever it may be.
Destiny then places him in the middle of a terrorist plot. In order to save his family he must sacrifice his own life. Is the myth real or just a fable? Jack has only seconds to answer this question.
About the Author
MARK BELLINO is a creative, ambitious individual with a positive outlook on life. Mark has travelled the world extensively, which has given him the opportunity to satisfy his appreciation of cultures, described through architectural, literary and artistic works. These intimate experiences have led him to realize the power that art and literature have over influencing the world. He began writing twenty years ago, expressing himself through various poetic creations. Over the years, Mark has developed a desire to write fictional stories, which culminated to the authorship of his first novel, A Chance of Rain. This was quickly followed by the creation of 9 Lives, which takes his readers to the edge of Sci-Fi thrillers.
