From Aston to Aussie

Freemantle, our first port of call in our new promised land. The Sunday we landed was beautiful, clear blue skys and a nice warm breeze. As we came down the ramp off the ship Customs and Excise were there to greet us, G,day sir wheres your Moe? I was dumbfounded, Moe I said I  know anyone called Moe. He sighed and pointed to our Document of Identity, which had Sheilas photo on it as well as mine, your mo he said indicating my Viva Zapata moustache, oh I shaved that off ages ago. His attempt at being nice to this newcomer to his shores falling on ignorant ears he waved us on.

We took stock of our situation, we had a large box full of Xmas toys, we had three suitcases full of jumpers and lots of warm clothes, the temperature at the time being in the high eighties. We had three rooms in an old Army Nissan hut. We had no vehicle, I had no job,we knew no one in Australia,we had five pounds in the bank. Ok then time to roll up the sleeves and have a go.
