About the Book.
Hushed Whispers is a diverse collection of poetic work which draws from the rich experiences of the Author. From the fertile myths and stories of the southern deserts of Pakistan, to the loneliness and emptiness of a foreigner in western society and the deep injustices of street life in Brazil, this collection of poems carries the reader through a journey which is both intense and personal, but also full of an unspoken hope, and longing for love.

The memory of these stories would stay with him and has become the source of much of his inspiration.
Aspects of these poems are set against this cross cultural backdrop. Many difficult issues of injustice, violence and abuse are core themes within his work. However the central thread of his work are perhaps the unwritten words of strength, hope, and love which one perseveres to understand and thus, simply acknowledge the empowerment realized through quiet contemplation.
The culture surrounding his home life was one of extremely conservative Islam not dissimilar to what we equate to the Taliban.
In contrast to this, the culture of his school life was a world separated from its surrounding community. Ostensibly a protective bubble within which it maintained its own hierarchy and rules based on Christian values.
This volume of poems draws on these experiences and in sharing them also helps the reader to understand at least some of the context from which the work is drawn.

About the Book
This book is the beginning of a new search, into the unknown of self. I advise caution to the weary and down hearted, for I believe it it is only fair to advise, that if correctly applied, as you read the following material it can be harmful to your perception of reality; it may give rise to emotional distress, disillusionment and mental incoherence. This is in essence the design of an emotional mind drug.
It is my aim to guide you into a realm where the textures you sense are in truth your own ingredient to what you may see. Life is a structure of orientation; for beneath the inkwells lie the stigmatic abuses of mankind, the places which we alone understand any familiarity.
I give you a key unto which the shadows of the labyrinth submit. From the moment you embark you step into the infinite of possibility and dreamless grandeur.
You alone guide your destination. It is in your power to fail or prevail, whether by hope or despair. There are two tools to cut upon the girth of the stone, on which you are about to place your signature, for you can never return, your name is purely there for the phantoms to remember you. I present the hammer and the chisel. The hammer represents fact, your experience of reality. The chisel is fable-the dreams you must hold as you step beyond your conscious recollections. The stone lies in verse for I believe poetry is truly the gateway to an endless search into the mind of the soul, within the veins of the earth lie trophies and skeletal remains of its dynamic nature. Whence we flow where fluids allow, and break into diversion to where the rocks divide our souls…then we begin the search for the labyrinths heart, for few have ventured there, therefore I plead:
Read into the depth of your soul
Read into the corners of your mind,
Read into the winds of your spirit
Read into the longing of your dreams
-read and know you are not alone.
About the Author
Passion, loneliness, despair, anger, hope and euphoria are all feelings one experiences growing up; however, few are as caught between such different worlds as Pakistan and Norway. Robert's early life was filled with the stories and myths from the history and culture of the desert region of southern Pakistan. His later teenage years were spent between the family home in rural northern Pakistan and the isolation of boarding school. It was not until he had graduated high school that he moved to Norway to find himself part of a culture to which he belonged but did not identify with. This accumulation of work is a reflection of his experiences and an attempt to express his own and others’ emotions.
It is against this wonderful and terrible backdrop that much of these thoughts find their meaning. This collection has been written in such a way as to invite the reader to interpret the verse based on their own life and in doing so, understand that their experiences are shared.
Robert is based in Stavanger, Norway where he lives with his family and works as a physician. Many of the themes established in this collection continue to inspire him in his writing.
Hushed Whispers is his first collection of poetic verse.
